Lead free pewter (MPK) made up of pure tin, silver, copper and bismuth.
This alloy meets and exceeds ASTM F2923 - 11 standard for toxic metals in casting alloy.
Our high performance alloys provide trouble free, smooth flow results for the caster. We are a pewter alloying company, having a combined alloying and technical experience of over 70 years.
Our most popular lead free alloys are MPK and 92-8. The make up of MPK is the original ASTM standard for pewter alloy and has a liquidus / solidus of 455 to 475 and a casting range of between 500/600 degrees. Our newest addition to our lead free line, MPK has a liquidus / solidus of 428/446 and a casting temperature of 500/600 degrees. What makes MPK very attractive to most of our customers is that MPK has silver in the alloy, which gives you a very bright casting when tubbed or polished. MPK is also antimony free which makes it more pliable than 92-8. MPK will run about 40 to 50 ppm in lead. Either alloy works well in either silicone or vulcanized rubber, sand and bronze molds. Some customers tell me that they even cast into plaster. Both metals run approximately .27 pounds per cubic inch.
